Xangans Pig (No Longer) Stuck in Alleyway
The file problems are fixed, and the proof copy is now chugging through the mail on its way to me. If the print quality is okay – oh, the anxiety! – I can approve it, and then…
Xangans will be available in print, on real paper!
All this stuff below will then be ancient history. But for those who are still worried about the pig, know now that I finally soothed it by singing to it.
“Pig, O Pig, O Beautiful Pig, what a wonderful Pig you are….” etc.
Patience
Have patience
I had all the 220 pages of Xangans in order in one file a week ago, and the file keeps loosing format. I’ve been struggling ever since to get it to remain in format, so that it can be made into a pdf from which the interior can be printed.
I don’t know if it’s me that’s dumb, or the Word program.
This technical problem is delaying the publication of Xangans in much the same way that the presence of a large, lazy pig might delay your progress up a narrow alley.
I don’t know whether to shoot this pig, or sodomise it, or talk to it gently, or kick its ass.
Patience. If I’m not answering you, don’t worry, just join the lineup. I will eventually get past this, Inshalla.

KICK IT’S AYYASK.inshallah.
I like how you used that, haha! Naturally!
I wanna be in it!
I say make bacon!
“Losing”.
Your version of Word is teh failz0rz. 2007 is much better, in my opinion. Far more stable.
@PerchanceTo - the Word file is 10 megs, and I’m wondering if that may be part of the problem.
@darkoozeripple - Try splitting it up into two files?
@RazielV - It has to be one file, to become one pdf file for the print on demand printer. It’s only 220 pages, which should not be a program. The problem is that every time I format the header or page number on a section, it links to an earlier section, even though I remove the “as Previous” command.
@darkoozeripple - Ack… I’m not sure how to overcome that. I never cared much for older Word programs.
what are you using to make it into a PDF? :/
Bacon makes everything better!!
There are PDF converters that can turn multiple Word files into one PDF. Word 2007 or 2010 *should* be able to handle that large a file though.
When life gives you a lazy, in-the-way pig…make bacon!
…I guess I should stop being lazy and read comments BEFORE I say sillystoopid things that have already been said a few times. Bah.
@ReeserTheShadow - Now I want to write a script about a cannibal serial killer just so he can kidnap some police officers and say “When life gives you pigs. MAKE SOME BACON!”
mmmm. bacons.
Sodomizing a pig would never cross my mind. LOL!Good luck.
@Unstoppable_Inner_Strength - Lol right? Mine either. I was like uh…yeah alright!
@Unstoppable_Inner_Strength - @imTHEmeowMIXcat - Okay, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking, “Huh?” LOLI wish I knew of a way to help, but I am no good with computerised stuff. But, um… whatever you choose to do with the pig… I don’t think sodomy is the answer, dude.
@FoliageDecay - Heh…that sounds like an excellent idea
Bacon.
yaaaay. Fingers crossed!
Glad you know a “good” pig song. Helps the flow in positive ways, eh?
Excellent. Can’t wait!
YAYYYY!!!
@OhItWontBeForever - We are THE international phenomena.
@Queen_of_You188 - Be ready to answer the call when I do the second edition. ;=)
@SheepShot - We need more grunters.
@darkoozeripple - I am prepared as we speak.
@PerchanceTo - I didn’t want to upgrade my system in mid-operation, so I went through with the struggle.
@TownCalledAlice92 - Acrobat 9 pro. All done now, pdf gone to printer’s.
@Unstoppable_Inner_Strength - We must use our imagination in order to make Xanga unique.
@imTHEmeowMIXcat - @Vignettery - I have since apologised to the pig. It was very understanding; it too has known stress.
@darkoozeripple - Yes, imagination’s good and all. But, my imagination has its limits. Heh.
I am not sure what’s going on.
@Paul_Partisan - Brother, I am in my relaxed and philosophical mood, and I’ll pose this question: in a relationship involving a man, a pig, and a crowd of Xangan spectators, is it really wise to want to know the intellectual truth of the matter? Better follow the heart, and rest assured that I am well, you are well, the pig is well, and all is well.
@darkoozeripple - All the glitches are now resolved, so here’s a clearer answer. Much as Xanga has shrunk, still not everyone knows what been happening, so…. I’ve taken stories, poems and blogs from about 30 Xangan authors, formatted them into book form, and had it published through CreateSpace. I have the specimen copy, and I’m currently gloating at the contributors who can’t see it, due to geographical distance. It should have passed though the distribution system and be available online (Amazon etc.) by next Saturday or earlier.
